This Cookie Policy explains how MeteoSound uses cookies and similar technologies (local storage, session storage, IndexedDB) on meteosound.com. Read it alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device when you visit a website. "Similar technologies" cover other browser storage mechanisms (e.g. local storage) that achieve the same purpose. We use both.
2. Categories we use
2.1 Strictly necessary (always on)
Required for the Service to function. Cannot be disabled.
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
sb-*-auth-token | Keeps you signed in (Supabase auth). | 1 year (sliding) |
ms_consent | Remembers your cookie choice. | 12 months |
ms_session | CSRF / session integrity. | Session |
2.2 Functional (always on for signed-in users, optional otherwise)
Remembers your in-app preferences.
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
ms_volume | Player volume. | Until cleared |
ms_unit | Temperature unit (°C/°F). | Until cleared |
ms_recents | Recently-played stations. | Until cleared |
ms_playlists | Local custom playlists. | Until cleared |
2.3 Analytics (opt-in)
If you accept analytics in the cookie bar, we load PostHog (EU region) with IP anonymisation. We use it to understand which features are loved, find bugs, and prioritise improvements. PostHog cookies start with ph_ and live for up to 12 months. Analytics data is never sold.
2.4 Advertising
The web version of MeteoSound may display light, tasteful ads to help cover hosting and development costs. We avoid tracking-heavy advertising networks and dark patterns. If advertising cookies are introduced, we will request your explicit consent first where legally required.
3. Managing your choices
You can change your mind at any time:
- Use the consent bar (or our Privacy Preferences page) to enable / disable optional categories.
- Clear cookies and site data in your browser settings — MeteoSound will simply forget your preferences.
- Use browser privacy modes (Incognito / Private) to start fresh each session.
4. Third-party cookies
When you choose to sign in with Google or to make a donation via Stripe / Buy Me a Coffee, those providers set their own cookies under their own privacy policies. We do not control those cookies.
5. Do Not Track
We respect browser-level "Global Privacy Control" (GPC) signals — if your browser sends GPC, optional analytics are disabled by default.
6. Updates
We may revise this Cookie Policy as we add or remove technologies. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
